Pictures taken during our visit to Uganda in February2018.

With funding from the British Council and other trustees paying for their own travel and expenses, we ventured to Uganda to meet Deo, Julius and the schools and peoples of the Pallisa region in Eastern Uganda. We arrived at Entebbe airport after two flights and an overnight stop in Dubai. Entebbe, although not as majestic as Dubai, was much more freindly and welcoming. We would stay one night at the 2 Friends Hotel in Entebbe before our journey into the interior. The travel in Uganda was only possible with a 4-wheel drive vehicle and a guide - we booked this in the U.K. and first met our guide ‘Jenkins’ in Entebbe. An absolute gentleman and professional guide who ensured our safety in the country. Eastern Uganda is a remote area and Jenkins had only visited the area once - about 20 years ago! He said that very little had changed. The 250 mile drive to our Eastern base in Mbale took around 7 hours, from there our daily trips to the villages (around 40 miles) would take up to 4 hours each way. Our thanks to the Mbale Resort Hotel and the wonderful staff there: wwwhttwww.mbaleresort.com
